Fishing
Jindabyne, Thredbo and the Snowy Mountains offer fly fishing, boat fishing, trout fishing, even naked fishing if you find the right location on our alpine streams, clean rivers, and mountain lakes such... as Eucumbene, Jindabyne and even in Khancoban. You can hire fishing boats and fishing tackle, purchase fishing gear and fishing lures and the friendly staff will help you tie fishing knots and set your gear up. With the expert guides no experience is necessary. You can fish in summer and winter; though in winter only on lakes and reservoirs, as most streams are closed from the Queen's Birthday weekend in June to the first weekend in October. Fishermen must carry an inland fishing licence available from many service stations and tackle shops in the region. The Snowy Mountains and Jindabyne is a great location to ride. Some say it is as good as mountain biking in Italy. Riding around Lake Jindabyne on the bike path is a great family outing. Both our principals... are keen riders and will be able to advise some good rides round jindabyne and at Lake Crackenback. Kosciusko Thredbo will set you up for the legendary Cannonball Run at Thredbo. Or you can hire a bike and cycle the Cascade Fire Trail or ride to Tom Groggin in the heart of the Kosciusko National Park. Call 02 6457 6234, for riding bookings, and sales of excellent bikes. The Snowy Region Visitor Centre in Jindabyne can provide detailed maps (at a cost) and information on trails which are recommended for any mountain biking in the national park. Ph: 1800 004 439. And the local Jindabyne bike shops know all the trails as they built them! There are awesome rides at Lake Crackenback, plus there is now a new trail from Thredbo to Lake Crackenback. There is a new Mountain Bike Trails Guide produced by Perisher resort. There are short and easy rides, to the longer but not overly difficult ones in and around the Perisher resort. Mount Kosciuszko and the Main Range
The most popular walk is the Kosciuszko walk from the top of the Crackenback chairlift at Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko. Where else in the world can you walk to the top of the country's highest mountain?... Another popular alternative is sunrise guided walks at Thredbo. Another classic bushwalk starts from Charlotte Pass which is reached via the Kosciusko Road, and takes in the high country around Blue lake and Muellers Pass. There are fabulous views all the way to Victoria. Mountain bikes can use the old summit road; you have to leave the bike at Rawsons Pass to make the final trek on foot.
